ENROLLMENT

2009 - 2010 REGISTRATION FORM

With limited class size, the conservatory fills very quickly on a first come first serve basis. In order to be assured a place in class, students need to enroll as soon as possible. If you are unsure as to what level and class you need, please call to arrange for a placement appointment. A position cannot be held for a student until first trimester and registration fees have been received.

Each schedule that is sent out to current students has been circled with classes recommended by his/her instructors. Please be reminded that the first two weeks of our fall session are considered placement classes. Students may be moved to another class during this time based on teacher evaluations.

GENERAL CLASS INFORMATION

Piano and voice continue to be offered at DanceWorks. The caliber of teachers and training is outstanding. Students learn a strong technical foundation, fundamental music theory principles, and also develop performance confidence. Private lessons typically last one-half hour and extend to hour long sessions as the student progresses.

Students will not be accepted into Ballet 1, Jazz 1, or Tap 1 until they are 8 years of age. Especially with Ballet, a younger body is not yet ready for the physical demands nor is the mind prepared for the focus required. Ballet levels 1 & 2 must be studied twice weekly. Levels 3 and up must be studied at least three times a week. For both Tap and Jazz, once a week is acceptable. By the time a student reaches Jazz 3, classes need to be attended twice a week. Please note that beginning in level 2 and continuing into the more advanced levels, students will most likely remain in each level for at least two years. During the second year in any level, students will continue to be challenged as each level focuses on technique and information that must be internalized mentally and physically before the next level of dance can be considered. Information regarding appropriate attire and school policies can be found on the back of the 2009-2010 Schedule.

For a successful education in any of the Arts, continuity in study is essential. As always our objective is to maintain a disciplined, orderly and caring environment.

National Groove Alliance's dedication to the development and inspiration of the students is our highest mission. We look forward to an extraordinary year.
